She works side by side with her husband Thomas in running their family business. She is inspired by family and her greatest role model is her mom who graduated high school valedictorian. She instilled strong values regarding family heritage and believed in putting acquired education into practice. Is the Historically Black College and/or University relevant to the modern black family?
Many of the institutions were influenced by the church. We would not suggest because a new predominantly white or integrated church is built that the surrounding black churches should cease to exist. Why are people so comfortable with the vision to eliminate our institutions of higher learning that contain much of our archived history, heritage, legacy and inspiration for overcoming some of the most amazing odds?
For our own children’s sake, my husband and I spear headed an awesome team of supporters who helped open up a baby boutique to begin teaching the world that HBCUs are great and should be respected and appreciated from “crib to college”. The mission of HBCU kidz, Inc. is to promote the HBCU spirit through high quality baby memorabilia and parent resources that increase global support and awareness of HBCUs.”
We only pray that it is not TOO LATE to reverse the negative mindset that people are teaching our future leaders and achievers about the relevance of HBCUs!
